The Q and a mac - Match made in heaven?

So you have a mac and a Q huh?

So do I. In fact, I have been a PC user for 20+ years but have always recognized the mac for what it is. A computer with significantly greater ability but a very limited amount of software for what I need. All of that changed with the new iMacs and, specifically, the new Intel chip iMacs. Between the software that exists (Quicken, Office, etc) and the ability to run Windows software with software like Apple's Boot Camp or Parallels or Codeweaver's Crossover, I took the plunge. I bought the 20" iMac but keep my PC in the other room as a safety net (P.S. Have yet to need it in several months). Since then, I have made several custom DVD's and have been able to do multimedia projects previously made very tough on a PC.

Then I discovered that my really cool Motorola Q wasn't designed to sync with a mac "as is". Very little searching turns up "The Missing Sync" software by markspace (http://www.markspace.com/). You can sync up the Q with native mac products - Mail, iCal, etc... or you can sync up with Microsoft Entourage (the Office for Mac version of Outlook) which is what I use. Sync is possible via Bluetooth or via USB - take your pick. Check it out!!

One problem I did not find a direct way to apply the Motorola Updates on a mac... Unfortunately, as best I can tell, you can visit your Verizon store for them to apply the update, use your "safety net" PC in the next room (Hey... I just happened to have one of those) or you can use Parallels software and run the Motorola software update through there (which is how I did the latest update and it worked great).

More and more applications and crossover software is appearing. Just keep checking the Q sites out there and post so those of us thinking with the other side of the brain can make it all work.
